Firm Leadership
Donald J. Figura, CPA, Managing Partner
Don Figura is a founding partner and currently the managing partner of Wolf & Company LLP. He also serves as chair of the firm’s Executive Committee, the managing body of Wolf & Company LLP. In addition to managing a client base comprised of professional service, manufacturing, construction, retail, wholesale, distribution and government entities, Don oversees all administrative, management, personnel and practice development functions of the firm. He received his B.S. in Accounting from DePaul University.
His principal areas of expertise include working with privately owned businesses in accounting and tax services, tax planning, strategic growth and financing, projections and forecasting and profit improvement issues. In addition, he has consulted with numerous clients in developing business ownership succession plans.
Don was the founder and is the current CEO of Wolf Financial Management LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Wolf & Company LLP, which provides wealth management and benefit services to firm clients. He spearheaded the creation of the firm’s broker-dealer, Oakbrook Financial Group LLC, which was formed specifically to assist other CPA firms in creating a wealth management specialty.
Don holds leadership roles with PKF North American Network and PKF International, associations of legally independent accounting firms and served as Chairman of the Board of PKF North American Network in 2007. He formerly served as commissioner and treasurer for the DuPage Airport Authority and was formerly chair of the Finance Committee of the DuPage Civic Center Commission. He is past president of the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce and the local Kiwanis Club and past lieutenant governor of Kiwanis International, Division 9.
He holds securities licenses FINRA series 7, 63 and 24 and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society.
Kenneth E. Masick, CPA, Partner-in-Charge, Audit and Accounting Services
Ken Masick is the current head of the audit division for Wolf & Company. He also serves as CFO and as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, the managing body of Wolf & Company LLP, and is instrumental in establishing the philosophy and approach that the firm utilizes in working on any engagement. Ken has more than 30 years of experience in public accounting and has been a partner at Wolf since its founding in 1978. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Southern Illinois University.
Ken manages a client base of manufacturing, distribution, real estate, construction and service businesses as well as not-for-profit organizations. He has also been involved in numerous engagements that have resulted in improved efficiencies and performance for his clients. A strong proponent of improved growth and profitability, Ken regularly provides his clients with consulting support above and beyond traditional audit and accounting work.
Ken works with the firm’s Quality Control Committee as well as the Mergers & Acquisitions and Investment Services divisions. He is actively involved with the selection and training of new associates at Wolf and is regularly featured as a presenter in continuing professional education seminars conducted for associates, seniors and managers of the firm.
A frequent lecturer and presenter, Ken has also written numerous articles and pieces on a variety of business issues and topics. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society.
Steven F. Lutz, CPA, Partner-in-Charge, Small and Emerging Business Services
Steve Lutz is the partner-in-charge of the Small and Emerging Business Services Department, as well as the Healthcare Services Group, at Wolf & Company LLP. He is a partner in the firm’s Audit and Accounting Services Department and member of its Executive Committee. Steve received his Bachelor of Science degree from Elmhurst College in 1976, joined Wolf & Company upon his graduation, and became a partner of the firm in 1984.
As the head of the firm’s Small and Emerging Business Services Department, Steve leads a team of professionals who provide outsourced accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll services, compiled financial statements and accounting software training and installation to small and/or start-up closely held businesses.
Steve is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois CPA Society, Medical Group Management Association and the Physicians and Managed Care Subcommittees of the Illinois CPA Society Health Care Committee. He is also an active member of the Chicago Health Executives Forum and serves as an advisor on numerous group Boards of Directors. Steve serves as a member of the Healthcare Committee for PKF North American Network.
Steve has made numerous presentations on a wide variety of topics, including personal and corporate income tax, electronic medical records, compensation models, and optimal retirement planning. He is the editor of Wolf's Healthcare Quarterly and has authored articles of interest to the small business and healthcare communities in numerous publications.
Philip C. Czajkowski, CPA, Partner-in-Charge, Tax Services
Phil Czajkowski joined Wolf & Company in 1976 and became a partner of the firm in 1985. He is the head of the firm’s Tax Services Department. Phil has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Science degree in Taxation from DePaul University
Phil’s expertise includes providing individual, corporate and estate tax planning for closely held businesses, professionals, entrepreneurs and not-for-profit organizations. He advises clients on business start-ups, tax entity utilization and reorganizations. Phil also has significant experience in international taxation, as well as in the not-for-profit tax area, including structuring exempt entities, unrelated business taxable income issues, and preserving exempt status. Additionally, he has extensive experience in representation of buyers and sellers in business acquisition negotiations, the provision of expert witness testimony, and representation before the Internal Revenue Service on income tax, estate tax and valuation matters. Phil’s business valuation experience includes preparation of valuation opinions, consultation regarding valuation issues in the context of shareholder agreements or disputes, ESOPs and divorce, and provision of expert opinions and representation before the Internal Revenue Service.
Industries served include manufacturing, distribution, publishing, TV and radio stations, business and professional services, and hotels. Phil also provides tax planning and compliance to business owners, executives and professionals.
Phil is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Illinois CPA Society and has served as a member of various Illinois CPA Society tax committees. He is also a member and past president of the DuPage County Estate Planning Council, and member of the Chicago Estate Planning Council and Institute of Business Appraisers.
He has made numerous presentations at seminars and continuing education programs and authored articles that have appeared in business and technical journals on individual and corporate income tax planning, executive compensation and benefits planning, estate planning and business succession planning. Phil has served as an instructor of professional education courses for the Illinois CPA Society, Chicago Board of Realtors Real Estate School and the DuPage County Bar Association.
